Yahoo Axis Turns Search Visual

Yahoo has been going through a rough patch. Having lost their original supremacy as the go-to search engine and email provider, they have morphed into some sort of tabloid and news aggregator pushing their articles through Facebook. However, it seems they have not forgotten their past glories and are seeking to regain their former position with the launch of Yahoo Axis.

Yahoo Axis is a new take on the search engine. It does away with the usual blue link listing of results and instead displays results in a visual format with the help of thumbnails. Google does offer a preview mode when mousing over search results, but Yahoo Axis makes this a default representation.

The new search engine functions as a plug-in for Chrome, Firefox, and Safari on the PC and Mac. The same is true for the Android platform. However, as Apple does not allow plug-ins for the Safari browser on iOS, you can download Yahoo Axis with its own browser for the iPhone. Yahoo Axis is only available to users in the US at present.
