Xiaomi has unveiled the successor to last year's Mi Note, the Mi Note 2.

Xiaomi's flagship phablet has a 5.7-inch dual-curved FHD display with a flexible OLED panel and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The back of the phone also sports curved glass, resulting in a symmetrical design that is quite similar to Samsung's Galaxy Note7. On the back, you'll find a 22.56-megapixel rear camera with a Sony IMX 318 sensor with EIS (electronic image stabilization) and 4K video stabilization. On the front, there's an 8-megapixel front shooter. The phone also continues Xiaomi's focus on high-end audio, with a built-in DAC that supports 24bit/192kHz audio

Inside the Mi Note 2, there's a pretty large 4,070mAh battery which supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0.

The phone also touts better GPS signal such as when traveling through tunnels with a technology called sensor-assisted positioning (SAP). We hope that it does translate to tangible GPS signal improvements as certain older Xiaomi phones seem to suffer from poor GPS performance.

The phone comes in Piano Black and Glacier Silver options, and is available for pre-order in China today. Two variants will be available: a base model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage for RMB2,799 (~S$575), and a higher-end version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage for RMB3,299 (~S$718).

Here's a summary of the key specs:-

  • 5.7-inch full-HD OLED display (110% NTSC colour gamut, 100,000:1 contrast ratio)
