Xiaomi working on two different processors for its entry and mid-range phones

XIaomi aims to lower the prices of its Redmi smartphones by developing and using its own processors.

Xiaomi is preparing to price its entry and mid-range smartphones even lower next year with the use of its own processors.

According to GizmoChina, Xiaomi is developing two different variants of its own processors. The low-end chipset is said to be used for the Redmi series where price is the key factor to attract consumers. Currently, most of its Redmi smartphones run on MediaTek or Qualcomm Snapdragon series. With the use of its own chipsets, Xiaomi hopes to undercut the competition by pricing its Redmi phones even lower.

The second variant is believed to be an octa-core processor which will be used for its midrange smartphones such as the Mi 4i. The Mi 4i is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor. Sources told GizmoChina that Xiaomi will continue to use Qualcomm's processors for its high-end models such as the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro

The two processors are expected to be released by Xiaomi in early 2016.
