With more smartphones sporting USB Type-C ports, Xiaomi thinks that it's time to introduce an external battery pack that supports charging through the new USB standard connector.

Known as the Mi Powerbank Pro, it has a battery capacity of 10,000mAh with several input and output charging voltages (5V/2A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A). This means that you can use the Mi Powerbank Pro to charge a wide range of mobile devices such as the Mi Note, Mi Band and the MacBook.  Take note though: while the power bank has a USB-C port, that is an input port that supports quick recharging of the power bank itself. So instead of 6 hours (if you use a 5V/2A charger), it only takes 3.5 hours to recharge the power bank if you use an 18W charger.

For output, you still have to rely on the regular Type-A port (which supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge); and if you've a USB-C device, you've to use an A-to-C cable.

The Mi Powerbank Pro is also thinner at 12.6mm and considered light at 223g. Xiaomi will be selling the 10,000 mAh Mi Powerbank Pro for 149 yuan (~S$32) although local availability is not confirmed at time of publication.
