Xiaomi Sold 1.3 Million Phones in 12 Hours with Total Revenue of S$300 Million

Xiaomi celebrated its birthday yesterday with a bang by holding a 12-hour sale marathon across China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. Known as Mi Fan Festival, it is an annual event held by Xiaomi to thank its users for their support.

According to Lin Bin, co-founder and President of Xiaomi, a total of 1.3 million smartphones was sold in 12 hours with a total revenue of 1.5 billion yuan (estimated to be slightly over S$302 million based on currency rates at press time). Bin added that over 130,000 phones were sold in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. 

Consumers in Singapore contributed S$2.28 million in total sales yesterday when 10,000 Redmi, 3,000 Mi 3,10,000 Mi In-Ear Earphones and accessories were sold across 6 time slots (10AM, 12PM, 2PM, 4PM, 6PM and 8PM) on its website. Other sales statistics were posted on Xiaomi Singapore's Facebook Page which include:

  • A total of 11,514 orders with an average of 16 orders per minute
  • 5154 orders for its Mi In-Ear Earphones
  • Over S$1 million worth of orders in the first two rounds
  • 3,600 earphones sold in the first three time slots
  • Over S$2 million in sales before 6PM

Can the 12-hour sale marathon boost Xiaomi's ranking in the list of top 10 global best selling smartphones? The Redmi and Mi 3 smartphones are ranked 7th and 10th in the list based on a report by Hong Kong-based Counterpoint Technology Market Research.
