Xiaomi smartphone with dual-curved display leaked, to take on the Galaxy Note 7?
After releasing a notebook that looks like the MacBook Air, Xiaomi is likely to launch a smartphone with a dual-curved display similar to the Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy Note 7.
XiaomiToday managed to obtain a purported image of an upcoming Xiaomi smartphone which shows a dual-curved display, a metallic frame and a home button. As the design language looks similar to the Galaxy S7 edge, this image could be photoshopped with the Mi logo.
Nonetheless, word on the street is that Xiaomi and other Chinese phone makers are sourcing dual-edge displays from Samsung. These phone makers are expected to develop their own interfaces to make use of the dual-curved displays. Chinese site MyDrivers reported in May that Xiaomi and Huawei are looking to launch phones with curved displays in September.
If and when it happens, Samsung has to compete aggressively with the Chinese phone makers who tend to pack high-end specs at affordable prices. This could pose a problem for Samsung's premium flagship smartphones such as the Galaxy Note 7 and Galaxy S7 edge which command high price tags.
