If you haven't already heard, 3D Touch is one of the most important features of the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Though it might not sound like much, it opens up a new way to interact with the display. It's one of those inventions that make you wonder how earth did we get this far without it in the first place.

Unsurprisingly, other smartphone makers are keen to incorporate this new technology in their phones too. Earlier this month, we reported that Synaptics, a company that specializes in touch controller technology, has come up with new discrete touch controller solutions that will enable "increased functionality and entirely new dimensions of touch" for smartphones, tablets and automative apps.

And now, it is rumored that Xiaomi will be looking to introduce this new tech into their upcoming phones. According to reports, Xiaomi has patented their own technology to implement such a display and controller, however, it is unclear at this point if it would develop the entire solution on its own or team up with someone more experienced like Synaptics.

Regardless, what is clear is that 3D Touch is coming to phones. Rumors also say that Samsung is looking to bring similar functionality into their next Galaxy flagship phone.
