Xiaomi announces full-metal OLED-equipped 5.5-inch Redmi Pro smartphone

Xiaomi announced the newest addition to its Redmi range today, the Redmi Pro. As you can probably tell from the name, the Redmi Pro is a step up from other Redmi devices and packs some surprisingly high-end features to make it stand out from its predecessors. The phone has a brushed metal unibody build, a 5.5-inch Full HD OLED display (with full NTSC gamut), a fingerprint scanner, a dual rear camera setup with a 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX258 sensor complemented by a 5-megapixel Samsung assistive sensor for depth of field effects and to allow you to change the focal point after you've taken the shot, and a dual-tone LED flash. On the front, you get a 5-megapixel selfie camera.

There's even a fairly large 4,050mAh battery inside and fast charging with a USB Type-C port. Storage is available in either 32, 64 or 128GB varieties, and there's a microSD card slot (which doubles up as the second SIM slot) for expanding storage.

Performance-wise, the 32GB model comes with a 10-core Mediatek Helio X20 processor, while the 64 and 128GB versions will be fitted with the faster Helio X25 processor. The 32 and 64GB models have 3GB RAM, while the 128GB model has 4GB RAM.

The Redmi Pro will be available in gold, silver and gray, and starts at 1,499 yuan (~S$305) for the 32GB model, followed by the 64GB model at 1,699 yuan (~S$346) and finally the 128GB model will cost 1,999 yuan (~S$407). All three variants will be available on China's Mi Store on 6th August. Local availability will be announced later.
