WSJ: Casio to introduce a smartwatch in 2016 to compete against the Apple Watch
Casio is reported to be joining the smartwatch category next year with a wearable device of its own. It hopes to make use of its expertise in watchmaking to outmanoeuvre Apple. Read on to find out more.

Apple's entry into the smartwatch space has forced another well-known watch brand to go on a counter-offensive.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Japanese watchmaker Casio will introduce a smartwatch early next year to compete against the Apple Watch and other smartwatches. Instead of emphasising on technology, Casio reportedly will focus on comfort and durability.
WSJ - Kazuhiro Kashio, Casio's new chief, says that the goal is to produce "a device that won’t break easily, is simple to put on, and feels good to wear."
The upcoming smartwatch also will match some features found on competing devices. It will be priced in the affordable range as the entry-level Apple Watch Sports (S$518), and should be launched in end March 2016 in the U.S and Japan. Casio has a target of hitting US$80 million in sales.
