Windows 10 Fall Creators Update release preview goes out to testers ahead of Oct 17 public release
Microsoft has finally “finalized” the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, which is slated to arrive next week, October 17. A week after releasing build 16299.15 to Windows Insiders on the Fast ring and a few days after seeding it to testers in the Slow ring, this same build is now available to those in the Release Preview ring.
Of course, with Windows as a service, one would argue that the OS is never complete. As the very least, this is the build that you’ll be getting next week, and this is the base build that PC OEMs will be working on for new devices. Based on past updates, you can also expect a separate cumulative update that includes fixes for bugs discovered between now and next week to be downloaded alongside the Fall Creators Update (a.k.a. version 1709).
