Wikipedia Protests Against SOPA with Planned Blackout on 18th January

The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA) have been in the news lately, with many websites such as Reddit condemning the Acts, as well as proposing to go offline as a protest.

Wikipedia joins the list of websites protesting against SOPA and PIPA, and have decided to hold a blackout on 18th January. Wikipedia's founder, Jimmy Wales, mentioned via Twitter that the English language version of the website will not be accessible, while details on whether other versions of the website will go offline have not been mentioned.

Wales also stated that on 18th January, users will not be able to access content, while the Wikipedia landing page will bear a letter of protest and a call to action for readers to protest and voice their displeasure.
