Which Android phones will be getting Google's Lollipop update?

Lollipop, also known as Android 5.0, is the newest version upgrade since Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) which came out in Dec 2011. Previous updates were all incremental such as Jellybean (4.1) and Kitkat (4.4)

While Android users the world over are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Lollipop, one question is chief in everybody's minds. ''Will my phone be getting it?'

It's safe to say that most (if not all) phones released in 2014 will probably be upgraded so if you fall into that category, your worries are over. If yours isn't from 2014, scour over the list below and see if your phone is listed. If not, don't fret since some manufacturers have yet to announce their lists.

Nexus
Nexus 6 and 9 will launch with Lollipop installed.
Nexus 4, 5, 7 2012/ 2013 and 10 will be upgraded

Google Play Editions
All Google Play Edition phones will be upgraded

HTC
HTC One (M7, M8 and Mini) series will be upgraded
No word on other series

Motorola
Moto X, Moto G/ G 4G and Moto E to get upgraded
Droid Ultra, Droid Mini, Droid Maxx to get upgraded

LG
G3 and G2 Pro will get upgraded

Sony
Xperia Z series will be upgraded

Android One
All phones to be upgraded

If you own a Samsung phone though... you're probably screwed with late updates according to this status report:-

While this isn't up to date, it's a good indicator on the pace the upgrades are coming along. While there are rumors that Samsung will speed things up with the imminent arrival of Lollipop, it's all just conjecture at this point.
