Star Wars fans might just be some of the most creative and dedicated people around. One YouTuber, going by the handle Tom F, just uploaded “modernized” versions of the trailers for The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi – a reimagining of what the two would look like if they were released today.

This didn’t even involve any heavy visual edits and all he did was engage in some judicious cuts and overlay the music used in trailers for The Force Awakens. We’re not sure which is more impressive – the fact that Tom F actually made them look fairly legit, or that they’re still so convincing despite being released over 30 years ago.

As The Verge noted, the remade trailers are truly a testament to the enduring visual design of the original Star Wars trilogy. Sure, some of the effects may look slightly clunky or dated if you’re one to nitpick, but you could just as easily forget about it as the haunting soundtrack comes on.

Furthermore, they even follow the style of The Force Awakens’ trailer in that they tease without revealing much of anything, instead choosing to pack their two-minutes of screen time with scenes and snippets of dialog that only add mystery. It’s no coincidence that Tom F decided to linger poignantly on the scene where Obi-Wan tells Luke that he must face Darth Vader again, only to have the latter insist that “there is still good in him”.

But enough talk. Go ahead and check out the trailers for yourself, and prepare to be regaled by the timeless nature of everyone’s favorite space opera.
