What do fashion labels and Amazon have in common?
E-commerce giant Amazon has quietly launched its own fashion labels. According to a report by WWD, its new private label apparel and accessories collection spans seven trademarked labels, targeting everyone, i.e., men, women and children.
The analyst, whom WWD spoke with, said that Amazon has launched at least seven fashion labels that offer almost 1,800 items. Most of the items are women’s fashion and accessories, under the brand called Society New York. For men, there’s Franklin Tailored. The remaining five brands are Franklin & Freeman, James & Erin, Lark & Ro, North Eleven, and Scout + Ro.
WWD has observed the fashion industry is fragmented, with varied market segments to address. Therefore, Amazon needs to constantly evolve its business strategies, and work with traditional apparel vendors, enticing them to sell their wares to the company. It is believed that Amazon will leverage on its clout as an e-commerce powerhouse to bring its disruptive energy to the fashion industry and be a force to be reckon with its own made-to-measure togs.
