Western Digital Unveils Hybrid HDDs for Ultrabooks

Western Digital has unveiled its new solid state hard drives meant for ultrabooks. These new thin solid state drives measure 5mm and 7mm in thickness respectively and will be launched under the company's WD Blue and Black product lines. These drives were first announced in September last year.

PC Perspective reported that the drives will be available in both 500GB and 1TB capacities. The 1TB drive will have a thickness of 7mm due to the additional of a single platter to boost its total capacity. The 500GB version will have a more svelte profile of 5mm. Both Blue and Black product lines will feature drives of both capacities.
