Western Digital expands capacity of its My Passport drives to 4TB

Western Digital has just announced that it is expanding the storage capacity of certain models of its My Passport drives to 4TB.

Specifically, the My Passport Ultra, My Passport for Mac and My Passport Ultra Metal portable external hard disk drives will now be available with 4TB of storage.

Previously, the maximum capacity of these drives was 3TB.

These new high capacity drives will also come with Western Digital's WD Backup utility and 256-bit hardware AES encryption.

The 4TB My Passport Ultra is available now with a recommended price of US$159.99, while the 4TB My Passport for Mac and My Passport Ultra Metal will be available in the next quarter.

All three drives will also be offered with a 3-year long warranty.
