Wacom Introduces Two Professional Creative Tablets, the Cintiq Companion & Hybrid (Updated: Prices)

Updated 20/9/2013: Added in local prices.

Wacom has introduced two new professional creative tablets which combine the company's professional pen technology with multi-touch gestures. The Cintiq Companion runs Windows 8 and 8 Pro, while the Companion Hybrid works like a traditional Cintiq when plugged into a PC or Mac and works as a stand-alone Android 4.2 tablet when unplugged. Both displays are 13.3" IPS LCD displays with Full-HD resolution, and work with the Wacom Pro Pen with 2048 levels of pressure and tilt sensitivity.

The Cintiq Companion - the one running Windows 8 - is powered by a 3rd generation Intel Core i7 1.9 GHz processor, Intel HD graphics 4000, 8GB of RAM and a choice between a 256GB SSD with Windows 8 or a 512GB SSD with Windows 8 Pro. The Cintiq Companion Hybrid works like a Cintiq when plugged into a Mac or PC, and when unplugged it functions as an Android tablet. It comes with a Nvidia Tegra 4 quad-core processor, a Nvidia GPU with 72 graphics cores, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, 2GB of RAM and a choice between 16GB or 32GB of storage.

Both tablets include features found on a Wacom Cintiq, including customizable on-screen controls, ExpressKeys, Rocker Ring and Radial Menu. They come with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth (version 4.0 on the Companion and 3.0 on the Hybrid), front and rear cameras (2MP for the front, 8MP for the rear), with a stereo headset jack and microphone.

Both feature a microSD slot for expandable storage. The Companion has a mini DisplayPort for video out and two USB 3.0 ports, while the Hybrid has a Wacom 3-in-1 cable (USB for PC/Mac, HDMI for display), a micro-HDMI port for video out (Android only) and one USB 2.0 port. An adjustable and detachable stand is also included with both tablets.

The base model for the Cintiq Companion starts at S$2699, while the base model for the Hybrid Companion starts at S$1999. Both models will be available in November.
