Is anyone else tired of the "content not available in your region" messages from streaming sites? Services like Spotify, Hulu and even some of the content uploaded to YouTube is intended only for Americans, forcing those who live in other countries to use proxies if they desire access.

Viki, an online streaming site, is looking to change that situation. They have just announced partnership deals with Warner Music, LEON and Seed to bring their music catalogs to people in the US and South East Asia. Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia are the lucky countries who will be getting access to a wealth of content which includes music from K-Pop and Rap artists IU, Drunken Tiger and Brown Eyed Girls, among others.

In addition, to cater to local audiences Viki has always had crowd-sourced translations as captions for the material posted on the site. The attention to regional needs has already helped Viki establish a growing user base of close to 12 million. Viki is a Singapore-based start-up born as a joint class project between Harvard and Standford graduate students.
