The U.S Army has just completed a six-week field trial of Apple iOS, Android and Windows Phone 7 devices to determine which platforms suit its needs.
According to androidcentral, the U.S Army will decide on two out of the three operating systems. By having two platforms to work on, the Army believes development costs will be reduced as they do not need to ensure that all three operating systems have the same applications. Feedback has been rather positive for the iOS and Android devices, although there is no official word on the response towards Windows Phone 7.
There seems to be an increasing trend of armed forces integrating these operating systems as part of their military training. Recently, the Singapore Armed Forces announced that its soldiers would soon use Apple iPads to sharpen their fighting skills.
