At the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) 2017 show in Las Vegas, Dell has wheeled out new UltraSharp displays targeted at creative professionals. Among them is the new UP2718Q, the company’s first HDR monitor that meets the HDR10 standard and the Ultra HD Premium specs set out by the UHD Alliance.

Here’s a quick overview of its key specs:

  • 27-inch, 3,840 x 2,160-pixel resolution
  • 1,000 nits peak brightness
  • 97.7% DCI-P3, 76.9% Rec. 2020 color gamut
  • 100% for Adobe RGB, sRGB, and Rec. 709
  • 2 x HDMI 2.0a, 1 x DisplayPort 1.4, 1 x mini-DP, 4 x USB 3.0 ports

The Dell UltraSharp UP2718Q will be available May 23 in the U.S. for US$2,000. There’s no word on when it’d available in Singapore.

With HDR tech now common on 4K TVs and getting increasingly common on smartphones, it's only a matter it'd start appearing on desktop monitors. LG has also recently announced its 32UD99, a 31.5-inch 4K IPS monitor that supports HDR10.

8K (7,680 x 4,320 pixels) monitor and more

Dell has also showed off the UP3218K, a US$5,000, 8K monitor it first unveiled at CES 2017, as well as the U2718Q (a non-HDR10 version of the aforementioned UP2718Q priced at US$700) and the 25-inch U2518D (US$500). The latter two support "Dell's HDR feature" (i.e., more like HDR effect) and thin InfinityEdge borders for an almost seamless viewing experience.
