Uber Driver Takes Passengers on High-speed Car Chase Through Washington, D.C.
Uber has taken many countries and cities by storm and is popular with many commuters. For the uninitiated, Uber is an app that connects commuters and limousine companies, allowing commuters to quickly find transport and limousine drivers to quickly find passengers. Its a win-win situation and Uber itself was launched here in Singapore early last year.
However, it has not been smooth sailing for Uber and it has had its fair share of problems and controversies. Just last month, thousands of taxi drivers protested against Uber across London, Paris, Berlin, Madrid and Milan.
And now, a man in Washington, D.C. has just claimed that he was "kidnapped" by an Uber driver and then taken on a high-speed car chase that lasted around 10 minutes.

According to reports, the chase was initiated by a D.C. taxi inspector, who had earlier requested the Uber driver for documents. Presumably, the documents are not in order, which would explain why the Uber driver was trying to get away from the inspector.
After the incident, Uber issued a statement saying that the driver has been removed from duty and also said, "Rider safety is our number one priority. We will cooperate with authorities in their investigation and have deactivated the driver pending the outcome."
