Twitter may be considering a paid version of TweetDeck targeted at professional users

According to Reuters, Twitter may be considering a paid business version of TweetDeck targeted at professional users. The company has plan to build a “premium version” of its popular TweetDeck platform, aimed at corporate and professional users. For the first time, users of this platform may be charged a subscription fee. By charging professional users, the company will create a new stream of revenue of its business model.

As we have observed in a feature article about the micro-blogging service company, Twitter is, or has, in the process of becoming a “fringe service”, a platform for the outliers of society. However, with its possible push to target corporate and professional users with its enhanced TweetDeck, it may be just the much-needed breath of fresh air for the company. The enhanced TweetDeck, if developed and launched, will also allow Twitter to gather data from paying customers and their targeted audience for valuable analytics.

Twitter told BBC News that it has started surveying its professional users to gather insightful feedback. In their outreach email to those users, Twitter revealed mock-up screenshots of the user interface of the enhanced TweetDeck. It comes with a data analytics dashboard, alerts about breaking news and tweets from Twitter accounts of their followers. If this service is launched, it may possibly improve the bottom line of the company, and burnish the reputation of its core service.
