The TrackR Bravo will never let you lose your keys again

The TrackR Bravo.

If you have a tendency to leave your keys or wallet behind during a mad rush to anywhere, the TrackR Bravo would be helpful for those absent-minded moments.

This device is a wallet-friendly, coin-sized tracker made from anodized aluminum. It uses Bluetooth Low Energy to communicate with your smartphone, and it supports GPS locating, allowing the user to get a lock on their misplaced personal effects and valuables. The device uses your smartphone to get your attention, and vice versa.

The makers of the tracker said that the 'suicide battery door' was inspired by the old suicide doors found in Lincoln and Rolls Royce cars.

The TrackR Bravo has an accompanying app that maximizes the various features of the item tracker itself. Within the app (that’s available on iOS and Android OS) is a distance indicator that shows the distance of the “lost” item and the phone. The app also comes with an Item Ringer button that makes the TrackR Bravo alert its user to the item’s location. Phone Finder does the reverse – pressing the tracker’s button will make your phone ring, even while on silent mode.

If your lost item was found by a fellow TrackR user, the device will use its Crowd GPS function to notify you when other users approach your lost device. According to the local distributor of this device, Singapore-based users share the same level of access to the device’s features with U.S.-based users. They also said that Crowd GPS coverage in Singapore was higher than many U.S. cities, prior to the official retail launch of this device.

TrackR Bravo is compatible with phones running iOS 8.0 or later, and Android 4.4 OS or later. Multiple TrackR Bravo units can be simultaneously connected to one phone, and each tracker can be associated with multiple phones as well. However, a tracker can only connect to one phone at any given time. This allows users to employ fellow family members and friends to help out in searching for a lost item, should the original users be unavailable to search for the tagged valuable by themselves.

As a tracker for small objects, the TrackR Bravo is 3.5mm in thickness, and 34mm in diameter. It’s slightly larger in size when compared to a local dollar coin, and the device remains operational for a year with its replaceable battery. While item trackers are not novel, the TrackR Bravo’s physical dimensions allow users to attach the device to their pets’ collars.

Each TrackR Bravo retails at S$49, and you can get multiple units at a lower price when you grab a two-pack or four-pack bundle (S$89 and S$159 respectively). You can buy the TrackR Bravo online through its exclusive local distributor, or via gadget shopping website Lazada.

You can also grab the TrackR Bravo right before you catch your flight, as the device is physically sold at duty-free shops in Changi Airport. TrackR Bravo will soon be available in other brick-and-mortar consumer electronic stores, with no definite timeline given by their distributors.
