Toshiba's 4K TVs from CES 2014

Toshiba has unveiled their new range of televisions at CES 2014. The new models range from an 84-inch behemoth with 4K resolution, which is the flagship product, to a 32-inch screen with 720p resolution. A grand total of 17 new LED LCDs have been unveiled and the full details for all the models can be found here.

Toshiba was keen to emphasize its new "radiance panel" which has been implemented in many of the new panels. The radiance panel in essence is a Toshiba SuperBright screen with a full array backlight. Consequently the radiance panel can also make use of local dimming to improve performance. The radiance panel also has a refresh rate of 240Hz and is paired with the CQ Dual or Single Core Engine, depending on the model.

Unfortunately, the radiance panel has not been used for the flagship 4K TV, the Toshiba 84L9450. This model however does offer 84 inches of screen real estate and is expected to be available in selected market by June or July of 2014.

Toshiba's L9400 series consists of two 4K models in 65 and 58 inch models. This series does feature the radiance panel and can also be expected to be in markets as the same time as the 84L9450.

Lastly, Toshiba has also unveiled two smaller 4K TVs as part of the L8400 series. This entry level 4K TV will be available in 58-inch and 50-inch versions. It is also important to note that the L8400 range has a refresh rate of 120Hz.
