Toshiba Wants to Bring 4K to More People with Its 50-inch Model

Remember Toshiba 9 series 4K UHDTVs? Recently, the company announced its Pro Theater lineup for the ASEAN region, and said that the 58 and 84-inch models will be coming by the end of this year.

At IFA 2013, the company is now showing off a 50-inch prototype. Besides the 4K LED panel (3,840 x 2,160 pixels), other tech like Toshiba's Cevo 4K chip that handles 4K upscaling, 3D (in full HD), 800 AMR (Active Motion & Resolution), the company's Cloud TV platform, and Intel WiDi support are also onboard.

On a related note, now that the HDMI 2.0 spec is out and it supports 4K at 60p, many 4K TV makers will have to update their existing sets to support the new spec. According to Toshiba, the update for its 4K TVs will come at the end of this year.
