Toshiba Collaborates with Skullcandy for the New Satellite L50 Notebook

The new Toshiba Satellite L50 notebook will feature Skullcandy branding and a new color -- Satin Gold.

Toshiba has been putting emphasis on audio quality in its notebooks and PCs. Every year, some of Toshiba's high end offerings will feature Harman Kardon speakers, and buyers can easily differentiate them with the branding imprinted near the speaker grilles (such as the Satellite P50 we've reviewed before).

Now, Toshiba's mid-range Satellite L50 will also indicate an audio-related branding. This time, the Japanese company partnered with Skullcandy, where Toshiba's built-in speakers were tuned to Skullcandy's Supreme Sound audio specifications (somewhat similar to Beats Audio on HP's Envy notebook series).

According to Skullcandy, the Supreme Sound profile will consist of "a full range of attacking bass, natural vocals and precision highs". Users can also utilize a custom sound profile optimized for Skullcandy's range of audio gear.

The partnership was announced in January this year and the new Satellite L50 (Satin Gold) with Skullcandy tuned speakers will be available in Q3 2014 from S$1,399. Basic configuration of the Satellite L50 consists of an Intel Core i5-4200U (1.6GHz) processor, built-in Intel HD graphics, 15.6-inch HD resolution (1366 x 768 pixels) screen, DVD drive, Wireless 802.11n with Miracast support, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0, 45Whr battery and weighs about 2.2kg.
