TimeScapes: World's First 4K Movie Goes on Sale

If you've always been fascinated by timelapse motion, this is one movie that you should not miss watching. Shot in 5K resolution on 4K Red MX and Canon 5D Mark II DLSR cameras, edited in 4K in Adobe Premiere and After Effects, and graded at 16-bit 4K on a Quantel Pablo system, TimeScapes the movie promises to bring the viewer through amazing timelapse cinematography of landscapes, people and wildlife of the American southwest.

Shot by award-winning cinematographer and director Tom Lowe, the movie took 2 years to make - with many sleepless nights outdoors and under the stars with his cameras, while waiting to capture all the timelapsed images for the movie.

Tom started timelapse movie making as a hobby. His first videos shot in places such as Yosemite, or Joshua Tree National Park which he uploaded to Vimeo.com gathered hundreds of thousands of views and people started taking notice of his work. Simultaneously, Tom launched the Timescpapes.org forum, the largest community of timelapse shooters on the internet, which has grown to over 5,000 members.

The TimeScapes movie is now available for purchase at various formats, which includes 4K, 2560x1440 30-inch monitor ready download, DVD and Blu-Ray, and 480p, 720p, and 1080p downloads. You can purchase the movie and soundtrack here.

If you've not heard of timelapse, perhaps the following two trailers from the movie would demonstrate the raw power and beauty of timelapse digital photography.
