Thinner MacBook Pros with OLED display touch bar and Touch ID arriving in Q4?

The 13.3-inch Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display.

Apple is said to be introducing major changes to the MacBook Pro lineup later this year.

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and 9to5Mac, consumers can expect a new "thinner and lighter" design for the MacBook Pro. The MacBook Pro will inherit design cues from the 12-inch MacBook and gain support for Touch ID and a new OLED display touch bar above the keyboard.

The OLED display touch bar will replace the the current physical function keys along the top of the keyboard. The new MacBook Pros will also be equipped with metal-injection molding-made (MIM) hinges, USB Type-C port and Thunderbolt 3. Dubbed "the brightest spot for Apple's 2016 rollouts", the new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models are expected to be available in Q4.

A new 13-inch MacBook is also going to be unveiled later this year with similar specs as the recently upgraded models. With major upgrades coming to the MacBook Pros and a new display size for the MacBook, Kuo expects the MacBook Air to be the entry-level notebook for consumers while the MacBook and MacBook Pros occupy the mid and high-tier segments respectively.
