Thermaltake announces three new cases with tempered glass side windows and plenty of space

Thermaltake Core X71 Tempered Glass Edition

Thermaltake is fully embracing the use of tempered glass in its high-end chassis. The company has announced three new cases – the Core X31, Core X71, and Suppressor F31 Tempered Glass Edition Chassis – which all feature 4mm-thick tempered glass side windows and extensive support for liquid-cooling hardware.

The new cases are all Tt LCS Certified models, which is Thermaltake’s certification that they are compatible with even the most extreme liquid-cooling configurations. They also come with pre-installed 140mm Riing Blue fans, a riser GPU support bracket for heavier cards, and a modular design for greater flexibility during hardware installation.

As it turns out, these are updated versions of existing cases that have been refreshed with tempered glass.

The Core X71 TG Edition is the largest of the lot, featuring a dual-chamber design that separates the PSU and HDD cages into the bottom chamber. This compartmentalization also helps keep a liquid-cooling loop – should you choose to have one – looking tidy by allowing you to install up to two 360mm radiators in the lower chamber.

The 3.5-inch drive cages can be relocated to the top chamber as well to suit different component layouts, and you can also mount two 2.5- or 3.5-inch drives at the back of the motherboard tray.

Having said that, the Core X31 TG Edition is a more compact mid-tower version of the Core X71, and it lacks the dual-chamber design of the latter.

It uses a 2+3 drive bay design, as compared to the 2+5 implementation on the Core X71, and will take up to two 5.25-inch drives and three 2.5- or 3.5-inch drives.

Liquid-cooling support isn’t quite as extensive as with the Core X71, but the Core X31 still has space for up to triple 120mm or dual 140mm radiators.

Finally, the Suppressor F31 TG Edition boasts modular sound-dampening panels to reduce noise levels. Most silent cases feature opaque panels all around, but the new Suppressor F31 case represents something of a compromise between noise suppression and looks.

Hardware and liquid-cooling support is similar to what is offered on the Core X31, and you’ll find room for cards up to 420mm long and CPU coolers up to 180mm tall.

All three cases will be unveiled at CES 2017 and hit the market in January.
