Telcos unveil price plans for the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge 4G+

** This story is developing and will be updated frequently.**

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and its curved display edge - it's finally available locally, but at a steep price.

  • Story updated as of 14th November: M1's page is now up.
  • Story updated as of 13th November, 6.00pm: StarHub's price plan is now up.
  • Story updated as of 13th November, 2.00pm: StarHub's page is live for registration of interest, but no price plan details yet.
  • Story updated as of 12th November, 7.20pm: Only SingTel price plan was available as of this time. More phone details and comparisons added.

Just a week ago, we reported of the Galaxy Note Edge going on sale in the USA on the 14th November. Today, we bring news that the Galaxy Note Edge will retail island-wide on the 22nd November. Priced at a princely sum of S$1,248, it will be available in Charcoal Black and Frost White color options. This puts the Edge at a S$160 premium over the similarly capable Galaxy Note 4 that has a suggested retail price of S$1,088. That means it's almost as pricey as the 64GB edition of the iPhone 6 Plus ($1,288).

As expensive as it may sound, it's actually priced more favorably than in the USA. Over in the States, it's slated to sell at US$1,160, unlocked. Still, any device more than a thousand dollars is a very premium product.

Meanwhile, pre-order and registration of interest with the telcos will commence from 13th November, 12pm. All pre-order customers (at the telcos or at Samsung Experience Stores), will receive a free Flip Wallet worth S$78, while stocks last, when they collect their GALAXY Note Edge 4G+ on 21 November 2014.

The respective telco URLs to go to for pre-order and registration of interest are:

M1: www.m1.com.sg/galaxynoteedge
SingTel: www.singtel.com/galaxynoteedge
StarHub: www.starhub.com/galaxynoteedge

M1 price plans

Updated as of 14th November:

M1's pre-order link and price plans are now up on this page.

At press time, M1 hasn't updated their website, but this is the official page that will host the pre-order information and price plans. Stay tuned as we update this space when the information goes live.

SingTel price plans

With Singtel's price plan details published here, we can see that the phone is roughly commanding a S$100 to S$150 premium over the telco's price plans for the Galaxy Note 4. For further comparisons, the iPhone 6 Plus 64GB offered by SingTel still commands a higher premium than the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. Take note that SingTel's recently launched Combo plans also come with high speed Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity at several locations across the island.

If you've not yet made the choice if the Samsung Galaxy Note series or Apple iPhone 6 Plus should be your next phone, we've an article to help you make the decision.

StarHub price plans

At press time, StarHub hasn't updated their website, but this is the official page that will host the pre-order information and price plans. Stay tuned as we update this space when the information goes live.

As usual, Samsung will have some accessories to make full use of your new phone:

  • Extra Battery Kit - S$68
  • S Charger Vehicle Dock - S$148

To recap, the Galaxy Note Edge can be considered a slightly smaller, but curvier variant of the Galaxy Note 4. It sports a 5.6-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, whereas the Galaxy Note 4 has a 5.7-inch screen. Compared to the Note 4, the Note Edge is slightly thinner at 8.3mm and lighter at 174g, and uses a smaller 3,000mAh battery. All other technical aspects remain similar, such as its camera modules, processing platform and more. Also equipped with 32GB onboard storage, a microSD memory card expansion slot supports up to 128GB capacity cards. Below the photo break, we've compared the specs for both the devices.

To find out what's so unique about the curved edge display of the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and what you can do with it, we've got a hands-on article with more details and photos of the device.

Seen here are the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge (left) and Galaxy Note 4 (right). This a perfect example of how the Edge makes use of the curved edge to offer more immediate controls, shortcuts, notifications and more. This helps keep the main screen area less cluttered.
