A month ago, we were treated to a preview of Synology's latest products at the company's global world-tour press conference. Apart from a new DiskStation OS - DiskStation Manager 6 - Synology also introduced new NAS systems.
One of the stand out products was the 2-bay DiskStation DS216play. This is one of Synology's newest entry-level NAS and is ideal for home use. It features a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, 1GB and even real-time real-time 1080p H.264 and 4K H.265 video transcoding, which can be handy for home theater setups.
The DiskStation DS216play is priced at US$238 (S$333).
If you need something beefier, Synology has the 4-bay DiskStation DS416, designed for SMEs and also storage-hungry power users. It has a dual-core 1.4GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM and features hardware encryption that protects your data. As befits a NAS system designed for businesses, the DiskStation DS416 also has twin LAN ports for redundancy.
The DiskStation DS416 is priced at US$426 (S$600).

As usual, store to store pricing may differ a little, but the recommended price serves you as a good guide.
