Synology Launches DS213air and DS2413+

Synology has introduced a 2-bay NAS server with built-in Wi-Fi support for home and small office users - the DiskStation DS213air.

Besides providing a wide rage of wireless configurations, the DS213air can be configured as a hotspot to extend the range of an existing Wi-Fi network, or even be deployed as a wireless router to create a wireless environment. It's loaded with Web Assistant, an intuitive web-based system which completes easy installation and setup, and lets users install the Synology DSM platform using a mobile device.Combined with the Quick Start widget, users can tour the DSM during installation and begin using it immediately.

Powered by a 1.6GHz processor, Synology DS213air delivers reading and writing speeds at 108.07MBps and 58.66MBps respectively under RAID 1 configuration in a Windows environment. Built on Synology’s signature design featuring two additional side ventilation openings and a 92mm rear fan, the system runs coolly with noise levels minimized to 19.0 dB(A).

Also announced is the DiskStation DS2413+, a 12-bay NAS server delivering high scalability in capacity and performance to SMB users. When the DS2413+ capacity falls short of demand, users can pair it with one Synology DX1211 expansion unit to grow its storage.

The DS2413+ is guarded with a complete set of reliable mechanisms including passive CPU cooling technology, system fan redundancy, hot-swappable drives, and dual LAN failover support, which help eliminate single points of failure and ensure continuous system uptime during malfunction.

Powered by a 2.13GHz dual-core processor, Synology DS2413+ delivers reading and writing speeds at 201.03MBps and 196.87MBps respectively under RAID 5 configuration with Link Aggregation enabled in a Windows environment.

With comprehensive iSCSI support, the DS2413+ can be seamlessly integrated with major virtualization solutions, including VMware vSphere VAAI support, Citrix XenServer and Microsoft Hyper-V. In addition, it fits easily into a business environment with LDAP, Windows AD and ACL support.
