Synology Introduces DiskStation DS411 NAS Server
Offering flexible and secure data management solution with the award-winning DSM 3.1 at an attractive price/performance ratio
TAIPEI, Taiwan - Synology today launched DiskStation DS411, a 4-bay NAS server that offers high performance with affordable, flexible, and secure file sharing and backup solution for office and workgroup environment.
Synology continues to impress users with the attractive price to performance ratio for the DS411. Tested under RAID 5 configuration in a Windows environment, the DS411 delivers an average read and write speed at 105 MB/sec and 47 MB/sec respectively. When operating under load, the DS411 consumes power at an incredibly energy efficiency rate of 29.7 watts. Energy is reduced to 11.0 watts when hard drives enter hibernation mode to further lowering users’ energy bills. “We have been providing users with the utmost value for their investment and the DS411 is no exception,” stated Darren Lin, product manager of Synology Inc.
Synology aims to provide a flexible and secure solution to boost data management protection. The automatic RAID management adopting Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) optimizes disk capacities. Users are also provided with the flexibility to configure the RAID-protected volume types manually. When it comes to security there can be no compromises. The DS411 is equipped with various data security mechanisms, including comprehensive Window ACL support, shared folder privilege, HTTPS secure connection, FTP over SSL, etc. The DS411 is also secured by firewall, IP auto-block, and enforced password strength to prevent hacking. Topped with 256-bit AES hardware encryption engine, the DS411 is a true data safe box.
The DS411 is powered by DiskStation Manager 3.1 (DSM 3.1), the operating system of every Synology DiskStation. DSM makes complicated things simple and hard things possible by providing versatile features on a snappy, intuitive, and multitasking web-based user interface. Acknowledged for its continuous worldwide recognition, Synology won PC World’s “Editor’s Choice” award and Tweakers.net’s NAS server roundup for the same series DS211.
