The Synology DiskStation DS716+ NAS system for power users will be available soon
We first got a look at Synology’s new DiskStation DS716+ NAS system back in September, and now we finally have a local price for it.
Compared to the DiskStation DS216play and DS416 which launched earlier this month, the DS716+ is intended to provide power users and businesses with better performance and scalability.
It is powered by a quad-core Intel Braswell Celeron N3150 1.6GHz CPU and supports AES-NI encryption and SATA 6Gbps speeds. As it stands, Synology is quoting up to 218Mbps read and 141Mbps write speeds. And while it comes with a tool-less two-bay design, it can be upgraded to take up to seven hard drives with Synology’s own DX513 expansion unit.
Other key features include support for on-the-fly video transcoding and three USB 3.0 ports (one front, two rear) for more connectivity options.
It runs Synology’s latest DiskStation Manager (DSM 6.0), which you can find out more about here. It is crammed chock full of features to boost reliability and productivity, and also sports a revamped and more intuitive interface.
The DiskStation DS716+ will retail for S$669. It is already shipping worldwide and will be available soon locally.
