Survey shows Samsung brand unaffected by Note7 recall in the U.S

While Samsung has taken a huge financial hit due to the Galaxy Note7 crisis, it seems that U.S consumers are still willing to purchase its phones as revealed by a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll.

The opinion poll was conducted online in all 50 states from 26 October to 9 November involving 2,375 people who own Samsung phones and 3,158 people who own iPhones.  Among those who were aware of the global recall, 27% would still consider a Samsung phone. For those who were unaware of the recall, 25% stated that they would look first at a Samsung phone.

The poll also reveals that Samsung's customers were as loyal to the brand as Apple's customers. 91% of existing Samsung users are likely to purchase their next smartphone from Samsung while 92% of current users indicate that they are probably buying another Samsung product in general. This is similar to the brand loyalty exhibited by iPhone owners; 92% is likely to buy another iPhone while 89% is likely to buy another Apple product.

In a statement to Reuters, Samsung shared that a majority of consumers opt for another Samsung model to replace the Galaxy Note7. It also remains focused on "ensuring customer safety and understanding the root cause of the issue".

An online survey conducted by Branding Brand in September painted a different picture; consumer confidence in the Samsung's brand dropped following the Galaxy Note7 recall. In China, the state broadcaster CCTV wrote a commentary piece blasting Samsung for its discriminatory policy on handling the Galaxy Note7 situation. Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also believed that the Galaxy Note7 recall would make users look to other brands such as Apple and Huawei when purchasing their next smartphone.
