Stratasys Announces Multi-Material Color 3D Printer
It might be awhile before 3D printers are found in homes (due to their cost), but advancements in the technology are always welcome. Stratasys, a manufacturer of 3D printers and materials for personal use, prototyping, and production, has announced the Objet500 Connex3 Color Multi-material 3D Printer. The printer is the first 3D printer to be able to combine colors with multi-material 3D printing.
It accomplishes this by using a unique triple-jetting technology that combines droplets of three base materials to produce parts with virtually unlimited combinations of rigid, flexible, and transparent color materials as well as color digital materials. This helps businesses to save time by producing multi-color, multi-material parts in a single run and eliminates the need for multiple print runs, painting and assembly. The printer uses various PolyJet photopolymer materials including digital materials, rigid, rubber-like, transparent, and high temperature materialsto come up with products of varying rigidity and flexibility.
The Objet500 Connex3 Color Multi-material 3D Printer is already available, though the price has not been revealed yet.
