SteelSeries Stratus Brings Wireless Gaming to iOS 7 Devices

The big name in input devices has designed one of its smallest gaming controllers yet. Using Bluetooth connectivity, the SteelSeries Stratus comes across as the ultimate mobile gaming companion device. It's so compact that you could slide it in your pocket along with your phone.

It's readily compatible with every controller enabled game on the App Store because the Stratus is made with the basics in mind for every well designed controller. It has four pressure sensitive face and shoulder buttons, dual analog thumb sticks and a 4-way D-pad. Despite its small size, it's surprisingly comfortable to use and one feels perfectly at home using it. Charging is supported via USB and it has a rated battery life of 10 hours.

You could use up to 4 of these controllers a multiplayer game and the controller has four LEDs that shows the player's status.

Now here comes the tricky part - compatibility. Apart from only supporting iOS 7 or later, it will only work with iPhone 5 or newer, iPad Gen.4, iPad Air, iPad Mini and iPod Touch Gen.5. To our knowledge, the Steelseries Stratus seems to be a tight collaboration with Apple and they seem to be limiting the compatibility circle even though there's no reason to limit the controller's appeal.

At this point of time, the SteelSeries Stratus is yet to hit retail, but it's available for pre-order at US$99 on the company's site.
