StarHub has announced that its iPhone 5 customers are now able to connect to its 4G network. Carrier settings will be updated over the following weeks to enable 4G. Alternatively, customers can choose to manually update their settings immediately.
Upon installation, iPhone 5 users will be able to enjoy StarHub's 4G service in key areas like Changi Airport, Sentosa, Singapore Expo, as well as areas within the CBD including (but not limited to) City Hall, Orchard Road, and Raffles Place. By end of this year, StarHub's 4G service will be available in more than half of the island. StarHub is expected to complete its islandwide rollout in 2013.
Previously, customers who purchased the iPhone 5 were informed at the point of purchase that they would not enjoy 4G speeds as StarHub was in the midst of certifying the handsets for compatibility with its LTE network. However, iPhone 5 customers were able to leverage the DC-HSPA+ mobile network which provides 3G downlink speeds up to 42Mbps.
