Spotify: Listen to Music for Free on Tablets (with Ads) and Smartphones (with Shuffle)
While it may only have been rumoured before, today Spotify has announced that it's offering free access to its streaming music catalogue on Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, with some restrictions according to the device.
For those not in the know, Spotify is a music streaming service available across desktop and smart devices. Spotify for the tablet now gives you the same freemium features as the desktop; users can search for and listen to any song they want, with the occasional ad. On smartphones, the new free experience lets you shuffle play all the playlists you've created and the playlists you follow, shuffle play specific artists and discover new playlists.
Of course, the S$9.90 a month Spotify Premium remains, which unlocks on-demand, ad-free access to Spotify's entire music catalogue across devices with the option to download tracks for offline listening. Here's a handy chart from Spotify which explains everything at a glance:
As if the switch to more services being provided for free, Spotify also announced that the discography of rock and roll legends Led Zeppelin is also now available on their platform. Not sure how to use Spotify? Check out our Complete Guide to Using Spotify in Singapore.
