Spotify begins Android run for running-friendly feature

Spotify recently announced the availability of pace-matching feature, Spotify Running, on the Android platform of their mobile app.

Made for runners who rely on music to keep them going just a little further, Spotify Running plays tracks that match your running tempo by using your smartphone’s sensors to push out adrenaline-fueling tracks. The music selection is automatic – the app checks your listening history, and in turn, you can enjoy your run with familiar songs. There's also a choice of existing genre-based playlists (such as Hip Hop, Pop, Electro, and many more), and even some Spotify-composed running songs (called Running Originals) for a good pavement-pounding. This exercise-friendly feature was originally launched on iOS in May 2015.

Previously, Spotify launched Discover Weekly in July – a feature that compiles your personal favorites with other tracks played by Spotify users with similar taste, every week on Monday. The result is a weekly mixtape with your preferred songs, jostled in between tracks that are fresh to your ears, which will likely become your new favorites too.

To get Spotify Running, simply download Spotify for Android devices here. As always, the free version of Spotify doesn’t require you to pay anything, but you’ll have to sit through advertisements and deal with limited control over your playlists. Track shoes and motivation to exercise come separately. If you’re looking to ramp up your cardio beyond a playlist, you could consider getting a pair of fitness earphones like the wireless Sony Smart B-Trainer that can feed you high quality audio, together with a tailored fitness plan for that extra leg.
