Hackers expose Spotify accounts online

Hackers are up to no good again, and the victims this time around are Spotify Premium account holders.

User details of the music streaming subscription appeared in three different online data dumps on Pastebin since Monday, each containing email addresses with their corresponding Spotify passwords. Certain accounts had more info attached to the leak, such as home countries, account type and renewal dates.

Forbes has apparently gotten in touch with more than 80 users, who have verified the legitimacy of the info. More worryingly, only 15 of them said the leaked passwords were unique to Spotify.

The identity of those responsible is still unknown, as is the method used to obtain the data. And while the leaked account data did not include payment credentials, the worry of it surfacing up later is present. As it is, Spotify Premium accounts being compromised like this are known to be sold in the dark corners of the Internet, since buyers supposedly pay less than an actual Spotify Premium subscription.

If you suspect that you’ve been a victim of this, or any such hackings, there’s a site that may be able to help you find out.
