The official launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note III may be a month away, but that hasn't stopped the flow of leaks and rumors on the device.

A series of GFXBench results apparently confirms some of the specs of the Galaxy Note III, which include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.3GHz processor, Adreno 330 GPU, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and a 1080p display.

The Korea Times reported earlier in May that  the Galaxy Note III will sport a 5.9-inch display. Samsung is facing stiff competition in the phablet market this year as its rivals raced ahead to unveil similar offerings.

Its Korean counterpart, LG launched the 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro in February that boasts better specs than the current Galaxy Note II such as a Full-HD display, a newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core 1.7GHz processor, a 13-megapixel rear camera and a lighter form factor.

Sony also joined the phablet party last month when it unveiled the 6.44-inch Xperia Z Ultra, which is still the world's slimmest Full-HD smartphone with the biggest display. Its specs are hard to beat as it is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.2GHz processor and features the best of Sony's display technologies.

It would be very interesting to see how Samsung respond to the stiffening competition with its Galaxy Note III. After all, the flagship models of its Galaxy S and Note series are its cash cows.
