First seen at IFA 2014, Sony’s first curved 4K UHD TV will be selling in Singapore in mid October. Known as the Bravia S90 in Europe, it’ll be called the S9000B here instead.

To recap, the S9000B (Sony Singapore is bringing in the 65-inch model only, and not the 75-inch model) sports a gentler-than-4,200R curvature, which Sony says provides the most comfortable viewing based on its research. The company even goes as far as to say that its curved TV is better suited for individual or small group viewing; and if you’ve a large group, it’s better to go for a flatscreen TV.

The S9000B shares many specs with the flat X9000B. Besides a 3,840 x 2,160-pixel panel, it sports Sony’s 4K X-Reality Pro engine for 4K upscaling, the company’s Triluminos color tech, X-tended Dynamic Range for brightness and contrast boost, as well as local dimming (as opposed to frame dimming seen on the X8500B).

Another highlight is the 4.2-channel multi-angle built-in speaker system. In a nutshell, there are four speakers at the front (two on each side). The top two speakers in front are angled at bit outwards and focus on ambient noises and other audio tracks, while the bottom speakers are angled slightly more towards the viewer and focus on the dialogue. And then there are the two rear-firing subwoofers at the rear.

The 65-inch Sony Bravia S9000B 4K TV has a retail price of S$8,999. Sony is still working out the launch promotion details, and we’ll share them here once we’ve them.

In the meanwhile, here's another look at its key specs, courtesy of Sony:
