Sony's remade the PS4 to be lighter, uses less power

The PS4 is also available in Glacier White and new 1TB variants are expected in the coming weeks.

While E3 didn't bring any hardware surprises from Sony, it seems the company does have something to announce regarding its PS4. According to a release by Sony, new models of the Playstation 4 will be 10% lighter and use about 8% less power. The rest of the specs remain the same though, so don't expect a drastic improvement in performance between the older models and the new improved ones.

The surface of the HDD bay cover will also be a matte finish now, instead of the glossy covers from older units.

If you're going to get the new PS4, do look out for units from the new CUH-12000 series. That's the model number for the new units that are lighter and energy efficient, anything else prior to the 12000 series are the older sets.

The new units will remain at their usual prices, $569 for models without the Playstation Camera and $629 for models with the camera.
