Sony Xperia Z5 smartphone lineup will begin retailing in October

Behold, the Z5 triumvirate, or at least, just the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium with its 4K resolution display.

Previously, we’ve guessed that the Sony Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium will make a September 2015 debut in Singapore. Today, Sony announced the availability and pricing of the Z5 smartphone lineup, so that makes us pretty spot on.

The flagship Sony Xperia Z5 will retail at S$998, while the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact will go for S$828. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has an official asking price of S$1,098. The Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact will be available in October, while the Z5 Premium will all be available in the month of November this year.

While the pricing isn’t exactly very different among the three phones, each of the Z5 has its own unique features. For instance, the Xperia Z5 Compact is the smallest phone of the three, with a 4.6-inch HD (720p) display. If you are pixel-minded, the Xperia Z5 Premium is the smartphone you’d much prefer, with a 5.5-inch 4K (2160p) display, plus the ability to upscale all video and image media content to 4K. The standard flagship Sony Xperia Z5 sports a 5.2-inch Full HD (1080p) display. Battery capacities for the Z5 Compact, Z5 Premium, and Z5 are 2,700mAh, 3,430mAh, and 2,900mAh respectively.

Per previous reports, all three phones will have 32GB internal storage, with the option to expand it externally via MicroSD cards of up to 200GB capacity. Z5’s new rear-camera module is a 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS for mobile 23MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and the fastest autofocus speed of 0.03 seconds, paired with a 5.1-megapixel front-facing camera. Xperia’s definitive feature – the IP68 water/dust resistance – is also on all three smartphones. The Z5 lineup runs on a Snapdragon 810 chip, with an Android 5.1 (Lollipop) operating system. They are all single-SIM smartphones, utilizing nano-SIM cards.
