Sony Xperia Z4 to sport a full-metal design, fingerprint sensor and new UI?
The design of Sony Xperia smartphones hasn't changed much since the Z1 in 2013 and it seems that a major overhaul is coming this September.
According to a leaked database of internal Sony documents, the upcoming Xperia Z4 is likely to come with significant changes to its hardware and software. Sony is said to be going for a new, full-metal design for the Xperia Z4 with a bigger power button on the side which doubles as a fingerprint sensor. There are also images showing off a 2.5D display panel.
Besides hardware changes, the Xperia Z4 is also alleged to ship with a new user interface which is long overdue for a revamp as other Android vendors consistently refresh their customized interfaces to keep the user experience exciting.
The Xperia Z4 is rumored to be announced in September during IFA 2015, which is timely since Sony unveiled the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact the same time last year. This launch schedule also means that Sony is abandoning its six-month refresh cycle, a strategy that irked consumers who feel that their purchases get outdated too quickly.
