Sony Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tablet Coming to Singapore in End March

Sony launched the Xperia Z2 at Mobile World Congress 2014 last week.

Two of the latest mobile devices announced at Mobile World Congress 2014 are making their way to Singapore in end March.

Sony Mobile Singapore confirmed in a statement to HardwareZone that it is bringing the 5.2-inch Xperia Z2 and the 6.4mm ultra-thin Xperia Z2 Tablet to the local market in end March. The retail prices of the devices are:

  • Xperia Z2 LTE - S$998
  • Xperia Z2 Tablet (LTE) - S$888
  • Xperia Z2 Tablet (Wi-Fi) - S$688

Prices stated above are without line contract and inclusive of GST.

As a quick recap, the Xperia Z2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core 2.3GHz processor, 3GB RAM and Android 4.4 KitKat. It sports a slightly larger Full-HD display at 5.2-inch and the same 20.7-megapixel rear camera as the Xperia Z1. The Xperia Z2 is dust resistant and waterproof (IP55 & IP58), and comes with a 3,200mAh battery. It boasts 16B internal storage and has a micro-SD card slot that supports up to 64GB.

You can pre-register your interest for the Xperia Z2 on the Sony Mobile Singapore website. According to the website, the phone will come in three colors: white, black and purple.

The Xperia Z2 Tablet is equipped with a similar chipset, 3GB RAM and Android 4.4 KitKat. Sony claims that it is the world's thinnest (6.4mm) and lightest (426g for Wi-Fi, 439g for LTE) waterproof tablet. Other specs include 16GB internal storage, micro-SD expansion up to 64GB, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 6,000mAh battery.

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 looks very similar to its predecessor, the Xperia Tablet Z. Much of the changes are under the hood.
