Sony Wants You To Hang the SBH-80 Around Your Neck

Not just content with introducing new smartphones, Sony has been keen to highlight some of their mobile accessories at CES 2014 as well. You may already have had a look at their SmartWear range of products. Sony has also introduced the SBH-80, which is a new hands-free headset targeted at mobile users.

If you remember the older SHB-52, you will recall it had a somewhat clunky design and a free-hanging dongle that would inevitably have to be clutched in the user's hands. The new SBH-80 however comes with a "neck-style wearing solution", which promises to deliver true hands-free functionality. Users are intended to throw the SBH-80 around their necks, much like a scarf or a tie, when they intend to use it.

The SBH-80 also comes with NFC compatibility, which should make it a cinch to pair with your smartphone. In the audio performance, the product can lean on Sony's balanced armature technology and Apt-X codecs to help with the lossy trasmission over Bluetooth. HD Voice is also included to help deliver clear audio across. You can have a look at the Sony SBH-80 in action below.
