Sony updates its 3LCD projector lineup with four new models

The Sony VPL-DW240 is a 3,000-lumen 3LCD data projector with a WXGA native resolution.

Sony has today announced the launch of its D200 series of 3LCD data projectors. Comprising of four models, the D200 series is an upgrade of the company’s existing D100 series, and is once again designed for office, meeting room, and classroom use.

A key feature in the VPL-D200 series is the new Vivid mode, which aims to boost colors and brightness to produce more eye-catching images. In total, each projector will have seven available picture modes and three brightness modes for users to create the optimal image. This is done so by selecting the most suitable picture or brightness combinations according to the picture source and environment.

Like the D100, the D200 series offers a compact design. With two HDMI ports and one USB power supply port on all models (except the 2,700-lumen DX220), you can now concurrently connect PCs and any dongle to it, including third-party Miracast dongles that let you mirror the screen of your PCs or tablets directly.

The new projectors also turn on automatically when a VGA or HDMI signal is detected from the PC, and sport four pre-installed templates to help you write parallel characters and draw clean lines on a whiteboard. In addition, there's a presentation timer function that lets you easily manage your presentation time. The projectors can also be hooked up to a speaker system via their audio out terminal.

TCO certified, the new VPL-D200 series projectors, which use 3LCD technology and Sony’s BrightEra panels, are extremely energy efficient. With a lamp driver controlling the optimal wattage of the lamp, the projectors can last up to 10,000 hours before you need to replace their lamp. They also offer auto power saving functions such as Auto Mode, which automatically adjusts lamp brightness depending on picture content, and a Lamp Dimming function, where the lamp brightness reduces gradually and automatically after a pre-set time or if no input signal is detected.
