Sony Rolling Out Software Updates for Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra

The Sony Xperia Z1 (center) and Xperia Z Ultra (right) will be getting software updates.

Sony Mobile announced on its blog that it will be rolling out software updates for the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra starting from 15 October. The updates are based on feedback from customers and the company's commitment to deliver good software for its users.

The Xperia Z1 has its camera algorithm tweaked for better overall performance, and the Smart Social Camera platform is refined to run more smoothly especially for Burst Mode, Superior Auto, AR Effect and Sweep Panorama.

The Xperia Z Ultra will have its touchscreen sensitivity optimized for both finger gestures and writing/sketching with pencils, metal pens and selected styluses.

For both devices, Sony has re-calibrated the displays to ensure viewing experiences remain bright and bold. Power consumption is also economized for long battery mileage and the Exchange connection is streamlined for  faster email sync, display and download.

Timing and availability of the updates will vary by market and carrier. A local Sony Mobile spokesperson has told us that the software update will be available for users in Singapore next week
